Improve your life style and self esteem enroll in a distance learning college

It's just a fact, you can't ever be over educated, how ever it is possible to become under education. Has this ever happened to you. you've applied for that dream job you've been waiting for, how ever you get passed over because another person had a degree therefore was viewed to be more qualified? It's happened to me, and I always think how do they know he/she will do a better job? They don't but the fact is they have to go with the better odds.

How ever there is a solution to this, and the fix is to earn a qualified degree without re-arranging your current life or day-to-day schedule. How can you do this? By enrolling in a distance learning college/ Depending on what your current studies are like a distance learning university might be the best solution.

Distance learning establishments are more or less easy to find. Because the majority of them operate online now you should be able to do some searches to locate a few schools to choose from. Once you've found one that offers the program you're interested in be sure to check and ensure the program and the school are accredited. Often times a school might be accredited how ever a particular program at the school is not.

When checking into the accreditation of the school ensure that it was issued from an authorized party to do so. There are numerous organizations that accredit colleges and universities online, how ever they may not be authorized to do so meaning that after all your hard work your degree would never be recognized.

What will enrolling in a distance learning college do for you?

If you're just one of those unfortunate few that didn't have the opportunity to finish your university studies when you should have then earning your diploma now will ensure you a better position in your career as well as an increased salary. If you have never attended college after high school, you just thought secondary education wasn't for you then a university degree will push you up the ladder and increase your pay.

There's no question in anyones mind that furthering your education will bring about better things in your life, along with raising your income and self esteem. No matter what your gender or age enrolling in a distance learning college is sure to bring more joy and good to your life.

There's always time

Remember it doesn't matter how old you are, you're never to old to further your education. Enrolling and completing your higher education is a choice only you can make, and not gender or age should effect it. Chase your dreams, and enroll in an online college today.

The stars shine in los angeles schools

Who wouldn’t love to live in sunny L. A.? The beach, the movie stars, the extremely crowded schools, poor school maintenance, and incompetent administration…Actually, a significant number of the district’s schools do not possess such conditions, despite the reputation of Los Angeles Schools.

There really are many good things about Los Angeles Schools. First of all, former Superintendent Roy Romer is staying involved by heading up “Ed in ‘08”, a project of Strong American Schools. Partly funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, “Ed in ‘08” has a platform based on higher standards, more effective teaching, and extra attention to students who need it. The campaign hopes to inspire voters to force presidential candidates from both parties to make education the top priority and to take up its agenda. The project is in good hands with Romer who, during his 6-year stint as the Los Angeles Schools Superintendent, helped to open two new high schools in 2005, four in 2006, and set plans in motion for over 160 schools to be constructed, expanded, or completely refurbished by 2012.

The El Camino Real High School Academic Decathlon team in Woodland Hills is another star feature of Los Angeles Schools. This year’s championship took place in Honolulu, HI. Despite amazing beauty and nearly limitless opportunities for fun, the representatives of Los Angeles Schools devote most of their time to pre-competition cramming. It all paid off, for these students took top prize, and earned glory for themselves, their school, and all the Los Angeles Schools they represent.

Within the past 6 years, the Los Angeles Schools district has built more new schools than in the previous 60 years, but also suffered a dropout rate that may be as high as 50%. In response, meet another Los Angeles Schools star, Jacob Levin. Jacob is a senior at North Hollywood High School, who argues that “school districts [are] hamstrung from providing better student services by a federal government that underfunds education.” Levin adds, “You can’t expect to have an education system that works if you don’t give kids the money they need to be able to get to college.”

Another star in the Los Angeles Schools district is the recent and highly significant state allocations to the Visual and Performing Arts education. Nearly $47 million will go to the Los Angeles Schools, and is earmarked for dance, music, theatre, and visual arts instruction. The funding comes from two sources. One is a grant of $28 million that will be given to individual Los Angeles Schools. This works out to approximately $50 per student. Current allocation is about $8 per student. Grant money may only be used for materials, supplies, and teacher training. Schools cannot upgrade facilities or hire new instructors. The second funding source ($11.3 million) will be dispersed through the Los Angeles Schools Arts Education Branch. Parents who want to influence how their school uses its Arts money need to be vocal and get involved. The money is there; now all that needs to be done is to spend it wisely.

The Los Angeles Schools district is huge; it is the largest public school system in California, and the second largest in the nation. It serves over 710,000 students, and has over 74,000 employees. The Student Handbook is available in 7 different languages: English, Spanish, Korean, Armenian, Chinese, Russian, and Vietnamese. With its size and diversity, it’s no wonder that Los Angeles Schools have all these stars!

Michigan schools maxed out on charters but parents want more

The children of thousands of families within the Michigan schools are on waiting lists for admittance to charter schools. Not only does this underscores the parents’ commitment to school choice, but it also indicates their desire for their children to have a better education — one they obviously do not believe they can achieve in the traditional Michigan schools.

Like many other states, the Michigan schools has a cap of 150 on the number of charter schools each district may have. These caps were seen as necessary in the beginning for a couple of reasons: (1) To ensure they were successful before they exploded on the scene, and (2) to ensure the traditional public schools were not lost all together.

The Michigan schools is currently maxed out at the 150 maximum university-chartered state schools. There actually are 230 charters in Michigan, but 80 are exempt from the cap. For example, a Native American operated charter comes under the control of the federal government and is exempt.

Enrollment in charter Michigan schools was at 91,567 during the 2005-2006 school year. That is 5.3 percent of all Michigan schools students that year and up by 10,000 students over the previous year.

Not all Michigan schools charters are successful, according to reports. Overall, however, they are succeeding for some students where the traditional schools have failed. Though charters schools are not for all students, many parents seek educational alternatives for their children to get them out of the mainstream and into more innovative methods to motivate their children to learn. Many parents are tired of the problems with the public school system that is inadequate and produces underachieving young adults. Charters become an even higher priority for parents with children in failing traditional schools, appearing to be their way out.

Basically, charters in Michigan are independent public schools that generally are chartered by a state university. They have more flexibility in how they educate Michigan schools students, not required to adhere to all of the rigid rules that traditional schools must follow. Though many people mistakenly believe that charters take the wealthy, white students away from the traditional Michigan schools, the fact is that charter students are predominantly urban, minority and low-income.

As with traditional schools, charters receive per student funding with the amount being the same for all students. For charters, this means that there are few operating as high schools, since it costs more to operate grades nine through 12. For example, there are only five high school charter schools out of 22 total charters in Kent and Ottawa counties, with one closing this summer. More high school charters are needed with the long waiting lists and parents clamoring to have their children admitted.

Spring has sprung

According to the time in my area Spring was Sprung last evening around dinner time. Have you seen the trees budding? Can you feel the warmth in the air and best of all can you smell the scent of spring rain? The air feels soft and fresh like clean clothes on the clothes line and there’s a promise of freshness and color from the crocus and daffodils peaking through the last remnants of snow.

Spring is messy too! The once glimmering white snow is now laden with road dirt and other indescribable litter. The run-off water mixes with dust and debris as it rushes across our pathways to ditches and sewers. Yet the arrival of Spring extends a welcome greeting that hears only the mating bird songs and feels the desire to fondle the warming Earth.

.

The vernal equinox announces the first day of spring March 20 or 21 when the sun sits directly over the equator. As the earth revolves around the sun the top half called the Northern Hemisphere, which is where we are, tilts more toward the sun and moves us away from winter and toward Spring.

On the other hand, the bottom half, the southern Hemisphere tilts away from the sun bringing autumn and winter to people in Australia and South America and Africa.

“Equinox”, a latin derived word means equal nights. At this time, sunrises and sunsets are about 12 hours apart all over the Earth, give or take a minute or two when the days are a few minutes longer than the nights.

Spring can be rowdy too! It can get extreme in temperature and bring more of the dreaded snow or rains that add to the run-off and burst the banks of the rivers and streams. Lightning and thunder and winds can often preclude twisters and tornadoes.

There is a similarity between Life and Spring that gives us the determination and courage to renew us in the face of set-backs and misfortune. Human Beings rise up to adversity in it’s many forms from personal tragedy to the disasters of Nature. And Human Beings, being human in nature, rise to the aid of humanity.

Virtual law enforcement answered with earning a criminal justice degree online

Many individuals are drawn to considering law enforcement or criminal justice as career choices. Next to psychology, most people today consider a profession in law to be one that's desirable and that offers strong job security. Colleges and campuses offering instruction in criminal justice are easy to find, but choosing to train for a criminal justice degree online may be the smarter choice, taking into consideration our technological world and its increasing need to crack down on virtual law enforcement. Receiving training in the very environment that many individuals will end up actually working in can boost appeal for prospective employers. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree in criminal justice can open the door to many positions in the field, such as courtroom administrator, police officer, private security officer, probation or parole officer, juvenile delinquency case manager, corrections officer, or police detective. Even the very jobs that one would think need on-site training at campuses can be a possibility via online education. Colleges can provide a solid start in enforcement positions and once an individual has completed their criminal justice degree online, he or she can certainly move on to more in-depth training to narrow down the career of their choice and receive more pertinent, specific skills. Students wanting to increase their credentials can pursue a Master's degree, which certainly makes any individual a strong contender for positions in the law enforcement industry.

A criminal justice degree can also involve other job options, such as becoming a paralegal or working in computer network security. Many enterprises and corporations look to save costs by hiring the services of paralegals or even employing a paralegal directly and having one on staff at all times. Tasks that were once thought to only involve lawyers are now being delegated more and more to paralegals, and the prospectus for employment options for this occupation is expected to rise as more businesses become savvy and seek to reduce expenses.

For network security considerations, technology and law enforcement meet head on, and skills tailor-made to deal with security breaches and cyber terrorists nearly guarantee job security in a high paying position. Insidious stealth attacks designed to bring companies crashing to their knees require highly skilled individuals with critical training toward valuable database information and protect businesses from unwanted infiltration, either by hackers, attackers or viral activity. Cyber security is claimed to be the top priority by 81% of business executives, and salaries are double what other online degrees might provide. The rewards of such a high-tech employment position and the growing demand for professionals makes this field a solid choice with strong job placement opportunities.

Online training is a good option for those individuals who need to work at their own pace or blend employment and family. The convenience of being able to earn college credits towards valuable certification, combined with pertinent instruction that rivals any education directly on site at college campuses, makes studying online an excellent option. Curriculum is offered by colleges that have a fine reputation and are recognized by employers and businesses, as well as large corporations. The business world has moved to embrace and accept technology, and also shown its approval of distance education. A criminal justice degree online is more than enough for individuals to be attractive additions to any enterprise and can provide job security in an age where turnover can be high and solid qualifications are important to professional survival.

Choosing educational software for children

In recent years, computers have become an integral part of everyday life. Now, more people own computers than ever before, and the numbers continue to rise. As a result, children are learning how to use computers in school at a much earlier age than ever before.

There is a wide array of educational software available for children of all ages. This provides you, the parent, with many options when choosing educational software for your children. Since many educational games have been shown to help children learn and improve their skills in many subjects, these games have become an important part of a child's learning experience. But choosing the right educational software makes all the difference. For this reason, it is essential to take care when choosing computer software for your children.

The best educational software is designed by people who know how children think. By nature, children like to see, touch, and interact with a thing in order to learn about it. This same concept also applies to computer software. For this reason, interactive applications have become so prevalent. Among these, there are many different types of software applications. Some are actual simulations, while others are open-ended creativity tools. There are also a number of structured activities available for the computer such as puzzles, tutorials, and reference titles. They are made by the 700+ publishers that specialize in educational items.

Because there are so many options available to you, selecting those that will truly help your child to learn may seem like an overwhelming task. This, however, does not have to be the case. When choosing computer software for your child, there are a few factors you should consider.

First, make sure you choose software that your child will be able to operate. This is especially important if you have a small child, as he or she will probably only be able to use the mouse. Be sure the application you choose accommodates this, as your child's attention span will probably not last very long, otherwise.

When choosing software, you should also take care to select programs and games that best fit the interests of your child. While it is wonderful to encourage the learning of new skills and acceptance of new ideas, your child is less likely to take part in something of which he or she has little or no interest. Introducing your child to newer concepts and skills more gradually, however, may peak their interest and help build character and skill.
