Computer moms and working at home

In our busy world today families are pressured on many different levels. The average family has a large mortgage, plus maintaining the upkeep of the family home, with renovations and additions as more young ones come along. Let's not forget escalating food prices and gasoline to get to the malls and shopping centres, and this is often budgeted on a husbands singular wage which gets stretched across the back of an out of control consumer society.

This has escalated the need for two income families which puts extra unwanted pressure on Mom and Dad, who now need to find in the already tense budget extra income for child minding or day care, which is expensive even at a daily rate, let alone a full week.

However, solutions are numerous to this widespread family dilemma, and many of these solutions can be found at the comfort of your easy chair, or office chair if you like, and tapping in to the work available which can be achieved from Home. Raising children can be a job in itself, but fortunately there are many companies offering computer work at home for busy Moms who are willing and can help.

Obviously there are many Moms who are gifted with many talents such as secretarial and administration, and let's face it, there is enormous admin to any family home, which Mom is usually the one organising everything. 'Honey, did you remember to. Honey, did you remember we were. Honey, did you remember to pick up the kids?'

When the child takes a nap or has been dropped off to school, these skills can be utilized to make some extra money, by doing some office style computer work. Depending on experience and skill level, computer work from home for Moms may include freelance writing or writing for greeting card companies. A little knowledge in advertising and copywriting could be something useful, as companies are often looking for freelancers to fill in during tight spots.

Using your personal networks can get your name out there amongst local companies, making them aware of your availability. Opportunities like Data Entry seems to be the easiest computer work from home, and is also advertised the most, so approach the opportunity like you are keen and looking to keep busy, and you will find that extra work will come easy.

Now finally, let's not forget to mention the opportunities that are frequently available in Online Home Business, Network Marketing or Multi Level Marketing.

Finding a good Online Business that guarantees good support, mentorship and will set you on your way as well is not that hard to find, as there are many great companies that are now franchising of a sort, opportunities to begin and develop large income streams and strategies that can go far beyond earning a few extra dollars to pay the bills.

Opportunities like this, if worked at home, with the same hours you as a Mom have available, between getting the kids off to school and back home again in the afternoon, can literally set you up toward ultimate financial freedom.

So get excited, for there are many things we can do to change our situation, and take the pressure off our marriages, families and financial situation for good.

So Mom, Business as usual this week; let's get that Man of yours off to work, the kids packed off to school with their lunchbox, or the little toddler quietly playing under the left eye glance of supervision, or off for a morning or afternoon nap, and Bamm! Moms back at the laptop ready to earn a cool million or two.

Decisions like this are changing families all over the world right now, and bringing incredible financial change to their once tight and over budgeted world. Are you ready to make yours? A decision is only a choice away.

It s time to set up a direct mail strategy for your business

Small businesses are very tightly squeezed for cash flow, but we know that we need to get our messages out there if we want to grow and find new customers. As each of our businesses grow, we know that most of our customers and clients will come as a results of word of mouth advertising. However, we also know that we need to implement a direct mail strategy to help us expand our reach.

Word of mouth advertising is a great way to grow our businesses, mainly because a happy customer will spread the word about your great product or service. They will likely tell a friend. That’s why we must keep on advertising. But how do you do it effectively when you have a limited budget and you have to worry about cash flow, payroll, inventory, rent, etc.?

I want to show you that you need to implement a direct mail strategy and I will share with you what I have learned in the process of developing one for my own companies.

We started out as a small company. We were operating in a few cities only and grew the company to the point where we were operating in 394 cities, 81 markets, 19 states and 3 countries. All this took quite a long time to achieve, so in no way was it a overnight success. Sometimes we had some of our locations that were short on capital and we had to help them find ways to advertise to get the most for their advertising dollar. The most effective method we found very helpful in reaching our goals was direct mail, we implemented a direct mail strategy.

I would like for you to start thinking how you can develop a direct mail strategy for your business. You should think of the options you have to gain publicity, advertising, marketing, PR, and how your direct mail strategy can come together with all of that. You need to keep an open mind and consider all the options when using a direct mail strategy.

My point in writing this is not to get you to spend all your money following a direct mail strategy; rather it’s to get you to consider how it could benefit your company, business or non-profit organization.

Why are retail sellers going online

Use of internet has increased tremendously in the recent days. People can now buy any type of products on the internet. There are a large number of websites selling different types of goods. The people are also in favor of purchasing goods online for a variety of reasons. Whatever these reasons might be, they are causing a lot of grief and anxiety to the retail giants.

Internet shopping has grown rapidly in the last few years. There are a few good reasons for that. First of them is the convenience of shopping online. People can sit in front of their computer, select the items they want and even make the payment for the goods online. Within a few hours, they will have the items purchased delivered right to their doorstep.

The second reason is availability of a wide range of products on the internet. With a greater number of choices at hand, the person does not have to select a product which he is not fully content with. He can get a comparison of prices at which the same product is sold by different online stores. He can figure out easily which is the better deal for him.

The third reason is cost savings. Prices of goods at online stores are lesser than local stores or malls. This is due to the fact that online stores can save money spent on office space maintenance and employee salaries. Hence, they can give greater discounts on sales to their customers. This finds favor with the customers as they can reduce their expenditure by shopping online.

Lastly, most of the online stores have made their websites secure. Hence, they can keep the personal data of their customers intact.

Due to these reasons, most of the people are looking to buy products online these days. If a seller is based only offline, then he would certainly experience a problem in the future. With items being delivered home these days, no one would care to go to these offline stores and buy their commodities there.

Hence, it would be in the best interest of these offline stores to improve their online presence also. For instance, an online website can be set up to divert customers to the offline shop. A number of discount coupons can be offered to make the customers buy at their offline stores. In general, these websites should provide the same services as offered by other good online stores.

The price of web hosting continues to drop

The price of web hosting continues to drop as competition continues to increase.

Web hosting is a relatively new industry which did not exist fifteen years ago. All web sites were being hosted by local internet service providers. Only large companies used to have their own websites. Things are very different now. Not only do the small and medium sized companies have websites but more and more individuals have websites as well.

There are businesses now that are thriving on the internet. Thousands of individuals also have their own websites as the internet becomes a major source of information. Work from home concepts are catching on and the internet is changing the way people do business. The trend of people owning more than one domain name is increasing. Some internet entrepreneurs have fifty or hundred web sites each.

The first impression one gets from looking at current trends is that the future of web hosting looks bright. It is going to be a period of competition for market share in a fiercely fought out market. Everyday more and more small and medium businesses are looking to build, improve or maintain a web presence. These changes will be beneficial to the well-managed and fast growing small and medium sized web hosts.

Personal websites are expected to increase as well. Reducing costs and relatively easy site building tools will bring more non-techies into the market.

Price will be the big changing factor to look at. Competition will be fierce as web hosting companies continue to offer more features, but price always seems to be the first feature most people look at.

In the years ahead, web hosts will find that to stay viable and profitable, in a market place that is growing ever more competitive that they must not only offer fully featured plans, good connectivity and reliability, but also be willing and able to respond to the diverse queries from their customers.

Why are web hosting prices coming down?

One reason is that some of these web hosting providers are newer companies. They are probably trying to get business or their operational costs are lower than the other web hosting companies. In early days the infrastructure cost was very high, but that has been reduced significantly.

Newer players in the web hosting industry invest comparatively less. So how do cheap web hosting providers manage this? Part of it is that servers, hard drive space and bandwidth are much, much less expensive than they were several years ago. Cheap web hosting providers capitalize on this fact. Moreover now there is much more business then ten years ago. Big volumes at lower margins work in this industry as well.

Until recently, web hosts attempted to compete by providing the most tools and features. The problem with this model is that it can be overwhelming for the average person. Some web hosts have a cheap upfront rate and then charge you additionally for almost every other feature. Customization is becoming more popular where you pay only for what you use. It is important never to compromise on quality.

Anyway we will continue to see the prices of web hosting going down in the future as competition stays fierce.

How to set-up a cash generating blog in the lucrative online dating niche

When I was growing up (a very long time ago now when England were good at sports and the Bee Gees were topping the charts) there was a real TABOO about dating agencies and classified personal ads.

Now, the tables have turned. Online Dating Websites are a multi-million dollar a year business. Don’t believe me? Check out these facts:

- In 2004 over $465 million was spent with online dating websites in the U. S. alone (Source: OPA).

- By the start of 2005 there were almost 1,000 popular online dating sites with an established client base. That number is growing rapidly.

- The industry is growing by a staggering 38% per year.

And some more mouth-watering facts from the viewpoint of an information publisher:

- Over a million people are estimated to search “online dating” in the search engines every month.

- Common contextual (Adsense & Others) bids for internet dating keywords commonly fall between the $1 to $4 per click mark.

- Online dating is a good way of entering a niche that’s highly complimentary with Pay Per Lead affiliate programs. This is powerful because with PPL, you get paid every time your prospect fills out a free form or downloads a free eBook. One of the Pay Per Lead programs I’ve found offers a whopping $15 for every one of your viewers that fills out a free form. Others tend to be less, yet still quite attractive.

So, how can you take this interesting research and take action to turn it into a fast revenue stream? Here’s a powerful blueprint to follow:

1. Set-up a quick BLOG on the subject of online dating. You can use a free service like wordpress. com to set-up a free blog using their point & click interface. Even newbies can do this without breaking into much of a sweat.

2. Create content on the topic of online dating or get some private label rights content that you can fill up the blog with.

3. Insert your Google Adsense code into your blog pages.

4. Display your Pay Per Lead link on each page (that’s $15 for each prospect that you send to the online dating company).

5. Add in a couple of additional quality affiliate programs that offer a commission for clients that you refer. Better if you can get in on a residual monthly commission (would you rather be paid once, or monthly for a long time?)

6. Write a couple of articles about online dating (or modify your private label articles) and submit them to as many high traffic article directories as possible. This sets you up for a long term stream of f. ree and targeted traffic for months and even years into the future.

The end result? A blog that yields several streams of income – two of which don’t even require your prospects to buy a thing. This is POWERFUL stuff – and if you’re having problems setting up any type of income generating site then this is a simple project to start with.

The Potential?

I don’t like making estimates. But it’s not unrealistic to expect 1,000 visitors a month with article marketing alone. If 1% convert to fill out the free form, you’ve set up a business that spits out $150 per month. But do you know what? With Pay Per Leads the conversion rates are MUCH higher – 10% would be more realistic.

So, how can you start? Do some research, write up content that your prospects would find useful and then find some affiliate programs that you can use. It’s a good, big-money niche that’s paying great dividends for content publishers.

Best of luck!

Domestic blessings how to earn money if you work at home

Working at home may seem to be an almost alien concept to the generations of the twentieth century. For people who thought that work happened only in the office, academe, or laboratory, working at home seems to smack of laziness and lack of motivation. However, with the advent of the Internet, and with more and more people finding business opportunities online, people working at home can earn a lot of money even without stepping inside a brick-and-mortar office.

If you are interested in working at home, you will need motivation, a constant supply of energy, an Internet connection, and the ability to look for working opportunities. Motivation is important if you have to work at home: you are conveniently situated near the TV, refrigerator, and bed, all of them beckoning you to simply sleep and rest and not work any longer. You will need this motivation to get you through every day, and to keep you glued to your computer screen, earning your money.

You will also need a constant supply of energy. This is tied in with your motivation: you need to be working constantly, and with unflagging enthusiasm. There are many ways to keep your energy up: you might require a good amount of coffee, although caffeine can sometimes make you shake uncontrollably and have a hard time typing on your computer. If you are prone to trembling because of caffeine, you can try eating an apple in the morning, or drinking large amounts of vitamin C.

An Internet connection is your gateway to the world of working at home. Join online groups and forums that post job offerings, especially for telecommuting jobs such as freelance web design or writing. Scour the Internet for sites that post telecommuting job offerings. Apply to as many jobs as you see fit, and take on as many assignments as you possibly can without damaging your health. Remember, you can earn only as much money as your brain can handle activity, so make sure that both brain and body are functioning properly before plunging into work and forgetting the rest of the world.

There are many ways to earn money online. You can be a freelance writer, providing content for blogs or websites that need important information for their regular clients. You can do web design or graphic design from afar, and simply submit your work to your clients through email. You can also be a virtual assistant, and be an offshore secretary for a boss who wants to save on airfare. In addition to all these, you can earn residual income by posting ads on your site, and earning commissions when people click on them.

This means that you might want to put up your own website. There are many programs available to help you design your website painlessly, and upload it easily. Such programs can help you make a website that is attractive and easy to navigate, which are prime considerations when judging a website’s integrity. You can keep a blog, provide informative articles, and even post your resume online. Be sure to have an easy-to-remember link, so you can post your website’s address online through your online groups and forums. Soon, more people can flock to your site, and you might be offered jobs that pay even higher!

Lastly, keep an open mind and always be on the lookout for job opportunities. If you are only starting out, do not be afraid to turn down jobs that you feel you cannot do, or that might violate any beliefs or principles that you hold. Moreover, whatever your skills and crafts are, always seek to improve them by attending classes or workshops.

There are many job opportunities available if you want to work at home. Be on the constant lookout and take as many jobs as you can. You can enjoy working at home if you have the right attitude and a lot of motivation, so forget about the old image of a lazy afternoon spent sleeping on the couch. You can earn money at home, and you can start now!

Unfortunately, there has been a lot of misinformation that you can get a free lunch online today. Quite simply, many people hear stories about people who simply get up, work a half hour a day, check their bank account to see how many thousands have rolled in, and then go off and do whatever they want the rest of the day. This is what most people think of when they think of the internet and home business lifestyle.

Here’s the reality; yes, life may be like that for many people now, but what you don’t hear is the work it took them to build up that kind of a business. It isn’t necessarily long and hard work, and you can get rich online very quickly; however, the most important part is the part that most people miss; you have to take action to make it happen. However, if you stick with it, you will make a lot of cash with your moneymaking home business idea.

So what is the best home business idea to help you start making money right away? As I've often advocated, network marketing is one of the best ways to get you started making money, but it is by far from the only one. Affiliate marketing, and developing your own products and services, Google adsense are just some of the some of the ways you can make money online.

Many people have made millions of dollars from selling paperclips to T-shirts, etc. No matter how ridiculous or seemingly minor a niche might be, if there is demand and a starving crowd, you can make a lot of money.

So what is the best way for you to start making money immediately? Pick a particular topic whether it be adsense, affiliate market, etc. and model those who are successful at it. There are many different courses you can take from people who have succeeded these industries, and they really not that hard to find.

Simply type it into Google and you'll find literally hundreds of different courses they come up. Find something interesting, model those that are successful at it, and you'll start making a lot of money on the Internet with your moneymaking home business idea.

Employee time tracking and it s benefits

Employee time tracking has been around for over a hundred years. It is said that the first time clock was invented in November of 1888 by Willard Bundy. Bundy’s brother then opened the Bundy Manufacturing Company, later to become IBM. While the idea of tracking the time and attendance of an employee remains virtually the same, the systems used to do it have vastly changed.

Since the 1990’s, computed based systems have become widely used to track an employee’s time. This can be done in many ways from using a magnetic card to scanning finger prints. While time tracking can be beneficial to any size or type of business, the benefits for a small to medium sized business are tremendous.

* Money Savings – it is estimated that up to 4% can be saved of annual payroll with a time and attendance system. With the hardships small businesses face these days, any monetary savings are a benefit. There are less data entry errors when payroll is calculated or attendance is recorded. The savings are increased when a biometric system is utilized. Biometric systems utilize one of more physical characteristics (such as finger prints) to identify an employee.

* Eliminates “buddy-punching” and tracks time off – Buddy punching is the practice of one employee clocking another employee in or out. This can cause hundreds to thousands of dollars in loss to a company. The systems can also capture and track sick time, vacation, holiday pay and conference time away from the office.

* Systems provide multiple reports – Reports can be compiled such as a wage report, timecard report, absence report, payroll summary, attendance report, employee list, early out report and overtime report. Automatic time clock downloads can also be scheduled and most systems can provide support to all payroll scheduling needs (weekly, bi-weekly, bi-monthly and monthly).

* Easy to install – The time and attendance software is easy to install as well as the time clocks themselves. Instructions are provided and most companies provide technical support for any additional questions or issues that arise. It is important to verify the system being purchased is compatible with any existing operating system.

While the benefits of these time clocks are more in the employers favor, they can also benefit the employees themselves. Employees can feel confident that these systems are providing accurate punches and that in turn, the employee will be paid properly.

When selecting the best time and attendance software for a company it is critical to read through the descriptions, benefits and features of the system. The ability to track this information is a highly cost-saving measure that every company should take advantage of. It also provides a more organized and comfortable atmosphere than the traditional time tracking methods can.

How stock investors stole your retirement

Many people are forced to start multiple streams of income to support their retirement funds, in many cases, because stock investors used clever schemes.

Mutual funds were moderately successful until the advent of the investment retirement account and in particular the 401(k). Corporate insiders persuaded the federal government to allow for the 401(k) in lieu of offering employees the traditional pension.

When this happened the employees lost the protection of a specialized financial manager who could manage. The 401(k) FORCES individuals into mutual funds that are notorious for defrauding the public of its savings.

Ironically, the company has corporate attorneys who do nothing but invent new ways for corporate insiders to suck money out of the firm in the form of perquisites, stock options, and golden parachutes.

Why is this so tough on the employee? The 401(k) plans do not offer individual stocks only mutual funds. What a scam! Corporate executives have forced you to place your retirement dollars with their cronies in the securities industry who manage the investment pools.

Does that mean the 401(k) is a bad deal? That depends. If your employer matches a percentage of your wages it may be a fair deal but you should only contribute only up to the matching limit. After contributing the maximum matching put the rest in a Roth IRA.

How WillYou Retire?

Most workers learn early on in the game that this type of pension will not offer them the expected returns. Many people are learning that they will not be able to live comfortably on their pensions. This forces them to take matters into their own hands.

There are three ways to build wealth without quitting your job. Invest in property, invest in stocks, and build a passive income stream. While these may be daunting for the average worker, who expected their company to take care of them, they are not really all that difficult to get into.

Passive income is more common than you think. People invest in franchises, build retail outlets, and sell online every day.

Today’s disposable society will never run into an over saturation of products needed to feed a gluttoned society.

Property investing is safer than most people think. The banks have started to adopt more ‘investor friendly’ mortgage products. Property investing is currently one of the most popular wealth building endeavours in the world. The trick is to learn everything you can, and then invest. Look at it this way. The investor purchases $1 million worth of properties, 5 properties. The rents cover the mortgage payment and upkeep.

Ten years later the portfolio is sold. Equity in each property grows $50 000 over those 10 years. Now, the investor has $250 000.

The investor may either walk away with their quarter of a million, or they may use it to pay down mortgages on 2 or 3 houses. Now, 80% of the rent on those 2 houses is 100% passive income, $1600 a month.

Stocks are not as risky as most people think. There are safe and secure ways to invest in stocks. They may not offer the best returns, but for retirement purposes, they are adequate.

No matter how you look at it, there are options that will work, even for people who are approaching retirement age. There is no reason why people need to work all their lives, and then scrimp and save through their retirement.

Getting productive with your home based business

With the advance of technology and the internet, and all of the advantages that these things bring, many people have found satisfaction in a home based business opportunity. The perks of a home based business opportunity are many, from being able to set one’s own schedule to availability for travel, the relaxed dress code and work environment, etc.

Many who have left an office setting for the dream of a home based business opportunity have found that it is all they wished for and more. However, when pursuing a home based business opportunity, one may find that doing work in the home environment presents an entirely new set of challenges.

One challenge that comes with a home based business opportunity is the large number of chores and tasks at home that often need to be done. These can become a distraction for those trying to balance a home based business opportunity with the regular, mundane aspects of managing a home. With a home based business opportunity, many times the amount of income that can be earned is solely dependent on the diligence and hard work of the business owner. Especially if some of the work for your home based business opportunity is something with which one can easily procrastinate, it may be a good idea to explore ways of making sure one is as productive as possible.

One excellent idea for streamlining productivity is creating a home office that is specifically set aside for your home based business opportunity. This enables you to focus all of your attention on your home based business opportunity without interruptions or distractions from well meaning friends and family. Music, television, conversation, and many other relatively harmless activities of everyday family life can actually interrupt or compete with your thoughts as you are working on your home based business opportunity. Setting up an office allows one to be in the home environment while still having a private place to pursue a home based business opportunity. If there is not an extra room available for an office, a home based business opportunity can also be pursued by way of a work space in a quieter area of one’s home.

Another idea that may help you to make the most of your home based business opportunity is setting specific business hours. One of the challenges of a home based business opportunity is the fact that you may not be viewed as “working” since you are at home rather than away in an office setting. It can sometimes be difficult to pull one’s self away from invitations and conversations with friends and family in order to do the necessary work that a home based business opportunity requires. When you set specific hours for your home based business opportunity, all of your friends and family will understand that they are not able to disturb you during this time. This suggestion also tends to help those who have a difficult time staying on task and getting things accomplished, which is an important facet of any home based business opportunity.

Aluminum loading ramps

One of the key responsibilities for any business owner is to ensure that all staff in the workplace enjoy the best protection from accidental injury. By providing the proper safety equipment wherever it is required, the chance of any member of the workforce falling victim to an industrial accident can be minimized.

Depending on the exact nature of your business, the safety equipment required for the optimum protection of staff will differ, and there is no one size fits all solution to creating a secure environment for your workforce. Precautionary measures that prevent people getting too close to machinery, combined with a safety conscious mindset will reduce the incidence of industrial accidents, and as a result reduce unwanted workplace costs to cover compensating employees who get injured.

If you need to provide easy access to trucks in a location where there is no permanent access or dock available, then aluminum loading ramps are the perfect solution. Hardwearing, sturdy, and completely reliable when locked in place, they will enable staff to load and unload the cargo.

Over the past few years, employers have placed increased emphasis on ensuring that all areas of their workplace are as safe and secure as possible to reduce the risk of employee injury. One area where it has traditionally been difficult to protect staff has been the loading bay. Even with a dock in place, it is all too easy for carelessness to lead to accidents where articles are damaged and staff injured needlessly.

By using an aluminum loading ramp for staff to guarantee ease of access to trucks, the risk of falling is significantly reduced. The latest vehicle access ramps are designed with safety and security in mind, and possess a number of innovative features that prevent accidents.

The most obvious safety feature of these ramps is a 1 Ð… inch curb that runs up either side of the walkway, and prevents pallet trucks and carts from rolling off the side of the ramp when it is in use. It is a simple and elegant solution that significantly reduces risk. Another area where the latest aluminum loading ramps offer major improvements over any alternative is in the fact that they come complete with a set of sturdy chains that hook into place and prevent the ramp from sliding loose when in use.

Unlike competing products, the aluminum loading ramps offered for sale by some companies are easy to move around, and can be put in place by a single person. Rather than having to lug the heavy and unwieldy ramps into place and secure them, these modern ramps come with the option of different carts to get them into the right place quickly.

You can choose an aluminum loading ramp with either a simple lightweight card that locks into place on the bottom of the ramp and allows for the unit to be wheeled into place quickly by hand, or opt for an adjustable wheel system that can be set at the optimum height using a hand crank. Both options make getting the ramp into position a great deal simpler than any alternative method, and increase the safety of the units in use by locking when in place to prevent unwanted movement.

Thanks to the use of only the highest quality materials in the construction of these lightweight but strong loading ramps, they can support heavy weights up to 2,000 pounds depending on the model. With a variety of lengths available from 6 feet up to 16 feet, and a width of either 28 inches or 38 inches, these aluminum ramps come ready for use, and can be safely used in order to provide access to trucks up to 64 inches in height.

Small business manager tips

You are the owner and manager of a small business. Not only do you need to know about the inner-workings of the business and the financial issues but you also need to be a good manager. Management skills can be just as important in keeping the business running well as your other areas of expertise. Here are some quick and easy management tips to help you keep the business running smoothly.

Make rules but be fair. In this day and age you need to set some ground rules so that each employee is treated fairly. However, you also need to know when to use common sense to guide you through sticky situations. Write down your expectations, and then translate those into language that your employees will understand. Present this to each new hire and post the rules in the office.

Understand the workings of the data and telephone systems. Use new technology to help your employees work more efficiently. If your company warrants it look into a good corporate long distance plan. Train employees on the office systems in place so that they can take advantage of the timesaving features they provide.

Don’t worry about the small things. If you have a tendency to micro-manage your employees they won’t feel free to be creative and to think outside the box. Allow others to do things in their own way as long as they can accomplish what’s needed. Constantly picking on the work of others will only keep employees from ownership of their work.

Learn to delegate. Most manager/owners have trouble giving up tasks to others. They may feel that the work is best completed by them. However, you need to give employees a chance to be productive. If the only tasks they ever receive are mundane or tedious they will soon tire of the situation. What’s more, you need people who you can count on to help the business thrive. After all, you will need to take time off and get a vacation and need to know that the business will run properly even when you are away.

Teach employees what their job is. Write complete job descriptions for each position. These descriptions should be specific and complete so that current and potential employees understand their job functions. Update the descriptions as needed. Provide plenty of on the job training and remember that not everyone catches on quickly. Have patience and understanding.

Communicate regularly with all employees. Employees need to know what is happening. Rumors can run rampant and can ruin morale in the process. Send a monthly email memo or hand out a newsletter. The communication will do wonders to keep things running smoothly and to keep attitudes up.

Stress good customer service. First and foremost your customers are who keep your business going. Make sure that employees put customer service first and keep it there. Offer courses or webinars that teach employees good customer service skills. Plan some training time each month for each employee. Even an hour or two per month will help keep customer service in the forefront.

Entrepreneurship and the business environment

Everywhere you turn nowadays, you always hear about venturing into entrepreneurship. But what is entrepreneurship exactly? It is actually defined as the process wherein a group or an individual makes an effort to pursue opportunities to satisfy needs and wants through uniqueness and innovation. Some people have the misconception that entrepreneurs are gamblers in the sense that they take risks and invest in industries that have no record of success. However, the truth is, these entrepreneurs take calculated risks that have the potential to provide them with huge returns.

The key factors you need to remember about entrepreneurship are opportunities, innovation, and growth. An entrepreneur sees opportunities in environmental trends and changes that nobody has seen before and pursues this opportunity with whatever resources he has at hand. The second theme in entrepreneurship is innovation which involves transforming and revolutionizing existing products or services to cope up with the changing global environment. The third theme is growth; this involves the continual efforts of an entrepreneur to expand his business locally and internationally. An entrepreneur is on the constant look out on how to create new approaches to make his business grow and become a huge success.

These themes are the key factors which businesses are founded upon. The largest corporations you find today did not start out big, rather they started out as small enterprises by visionaries who want more than what is offered to them. You can see from the history of some of the most successful business today that the founders of these businesses have taken great leaps of faith and incredible amounts of risks in order to be what they are today. Wherever you turn, you see the results of entrepreneurship. But it is most obvious in internet commerce because this is a new industry. People that were unheard of before are becoming some of the riches names in the world and it is all because they have taken risks and have succeeded. So whether we realize it or not, it is the entrepreneurs who drive the global environment nowadays. They are the ones who are always seeking out opportunities and taking risks to improve our world and profit from it in return.

The business environment and even the technological advancements that are available today would not have been possible if these entrepreneurs did not come out of their comfort zone to invest in the development of these businesses. As you can see, having the entrepreneurial spirit is definitely necessary for businesses to reach greater heights and provide better and faster products and services to their clients. It is no wonder then that a lot of business enterprises are hiring young and dynamic individuals with a vision and who are not afraid to take calculated risks to ensure the survival of the business tomorrow.

How to do what you love in a home business

There are many ways that you can turn a great passion into a business. The first thing that you should use is technology because it can allow you to bring the things that you love into the front line of what you are doing for a living. You can also utilize aspects of marketing and customer service to find great customers for yourself. By doing these three things, you can build up a customer base for the thing that you are passionate about, and turn it into the best way you have to make money. By using these few things you can make yourself a business that you are proud of.

The one thing that most people have problems with is allowing their passions to burn out when they decide to do it for a living. This is something that you have to be careful about, because if you don’t have the personal drive to turn what you are doing into a full time work load, you might find that you are much more susceptible to burning out on something that you had previously thought was a huge passion of yours. This should be the first step in turning your passions into your job.

If you are finding that you can indeed turn your passions in to your job, you'll find that there is great reward in doing things your own way. Benefits money

Mention the feature but sell the benefits is an age-old maxim of sales. What your products are made from is a feature; what they do for you is a benefit. It is benefits that make the sale and puts money in your pocket.

Consider providing the obvious benefits of your products and also the not so obvious ones. Look through your entire product line and determine as many benefits as possible for as many products as you can. Write them down, don't prejudge them as being far-fetched, simply list them.

Take into consideration the top two reasons people book a party-plan presentation. The first is to learn something and the second is to have fun. This doesn't mean you need to become a stand-up comic to get bookings. It does mean that by providing variations in uses of your products the far-fetched ones provide the humor while the others provide the learning.

The obvious benefit of booking a presentation is the hostess package your company provides. Most consultants hammer away at the free and reduced products people receive by booking. This is provides information to the potential hostess as to what she will receive if she books. But, if most people book to learn something or to have fun, what other benefits are the potential hostesses receiving by booking? Can they experience exactly how something will look on their wall by booking? Are they able to match your product to what is already hanging in their closet? These benefits, that are obvious to the consultant, are not necessarily obvious to the consumer.

What are the benefits of buying your products instead of going to a store to buy similar items? Does your company provide a warranty on the products? How does the warranty provide a benefit over and above what they would receive by purchasing a similar product in a store? Can they try make-up on and see exactly what that eye shadow will look like on them before they purchase it? Do they get your one-on-one attention after the show? These are benefits of booking. What are the benefits of someone booking a presentation with you?

By focusing on the benefits of your products and reasons for booking, your sales and presentations will dramatically increase. This in turn will increase your income, the incentives you earn from your company, and the number of recruits you have.

Picking out the best web design for your website

Companies who set up websites for the general public to view should choose their web design options carefully. One who sets up a website needs to ensure that the web design itself is as perfect as it possibly can be. There are a few ways in which the website owner can produce the most attractive and user-friendly web design possible.

The first tip website owners should take in mind when perusing web design concepts is what type of individual is going to be viewing their website the majority of the time. By recognizing one’s target audience, the website owner can ensure that the web design structure is one which is going to attract and impress all who set eyes upon the website. This provides the website owner and web designer with a good place to start with regard to the particular web design which is most suitable for the website.

One should also make sure that the web design is not too overwhelming for viewers. If there are a lot of pictures along with volumes of text on the webpage, the viewer has more of chance of being distracted and not receiving the specific message which the website owner is trying to relay. For example, if a website is designed to sell kites and the webpage revolves around vivid pictures of butterflies and crowded text, it may take away from the overall point of the website which is to sell a product to the online consumer. It is important to not go overboard with the web design of a website.

With that said, it is imperative that the web design is not drab. One will be much more interested in viewing a website that has color, some pictures and a good amount of text throughout the webpage. It is beneficial to ensure that there is a little bit of everything but not a lot of one specific type of thing in the web design format. This will help to ensure that the website visitor is attracted to the web design but not overwhelmed by the content or graphics.

The web design of a website should also be of a unique nature. If one has ever viewed multiple websites selling a similar product, they know how common it is to come across web designs of a similar nature. One who owns a website wants their website to stand out to the visitors and persuade them to return to the particular website for their products or content time and time again. One can make this happen by utilizing a web design that is unique and different from all others that website visitors may come across on the Internet.

Web design is something which can go in many different directions. Therefore, by following the previously mentioned tips one may be that much more likely to use a web design for their website which is sure to please all who come across it.

The explosion of web hosting bandwidth

I want to be the one to tell you that the web hosting industry is experiencing an explosion with regards to web hosting bandwidth. I begin with the very commonly used term in the web hosting industry ‘Bandwidth’. For the benefit of those how do not understand this term, below you will find a definition:

- The amount of data that can be transmitted in a fixed amount of time. For digital devices, the bandwidth is usually expressed in bits per second (bps) or bytes per second. For analog devices, the bandwidth is expressed in cycles per second, or Hertz (Hz).

From the web hosting point of view, bandwidth is the amount of traffic that is allowed to occur between a web site and the rest of the internet for a particular server (or host). The amount of bandwidth a web hosting company can provide is determined by their network connections, both internal to their information center and external to the public internet.

Every time someone visits you web site or downloads something from your web site, a certain amount of bandwidth is consumed. Normally every website owner is allotted a specific quantity of bandwidth per month (or monthly limit) which is usually measured in GB.

If there are a lot of people trying to download from a single website or from different websites hosted on the same host, there may be occasions when somebody will be required to wait because the bandwidth limitation of the particular host is being used at full capacity.

Nowadays, we are seeing bigger and bigger websites with several thousand pages, plenty of audio, video and downloadable files which have led to a bandwidth explosion. Online gaming sites are very popular and require huge amounts of bandwidth. Multimedia sites in general require bigger bandwidth and will continue to do so. Plenty of research is going on all over the world to find methods of reducing bandwidth consumption, and at the same time, increase the available bandwidth.

To make a simple calculation of the bandwidth consumption, let’s assume the following example. If you have put up a single page website which is 75KB in size and suppose ten people come to your site on an average every day, then your monthly bandwidth consumption will be =75*10*31 = 23,250KB or 23MB. But chances are you have a multi-page website, and so the average page size and average page views per day are to be used for calculation purposes. Not to mention your site probably includes images and offers downloads and so the bandwidth consumption increases.

Web Hosting providers such as Lunarpages Web Hosting offer as much as 3,500GB of Bandwidth. A basic web hosting package seems to get around 3,500GB of bandwidth among many of the web hosting providers out there right now.

Is bandwidth something that is available in abundance? The answer is NO. There are a lot of technical and practical limitations to this. One prominent factor being the limitations in the availability of telecommunication channels and infrastructure to carry this heavy traffic to various parts of the globe. Without a significant improvement on the infrastructure front, we can’t expect to resolve the bandwidth problem soon enough.

How to make money with training videos

Most everyone has some area of expertise in a particular field that would be beneficial for others to learn. Whether you're an employee, entrepreneur, or entertainer, there's good money to be made in training others how to have the same successes you have. Simply demonstrating on video the same steps to success you've taken, you can make thousands of extra dollars by portraying your expertise.

1. Determine your area of expertise. What have you been good at for all your life? What are your hobbies, pastimes, or job skills that you have been perfecting? Maybe you've been successful at parenting, making crafts, throwing parties, inventing, or how to enjoy a night out on the town. Even if it's something as simple as winning at board games, chances are there are people out there that would want to learn from you. Maybe you've been an administrative assistant for years and have been commended on how invaluable you are to the company. Then you have a basis of training others how to be top notch administrative assistant, considering how much job turnover some industries can have. Companies love training with videos, because it saves valuable time from managers and communicates everything important in the same way each time.

2. Plan your approach. Once you've determined your market for training others, you need to put together an outline for the content. This is where you'll want to spend most of your time, as content is always king. Start with bullet points, going from general to specific. Sketch out the scenes that you will be taping to illustrate the message. Be sure to discuss what doesn't work as well as what does, by sharing the mistakes you've made along the way. Give them resources and tips to get started and how to persevere.

3. Shoot the video. First you'll want to choose a professional production company to produce your video if you are not equipped or experienced. Do not use your home camcorder thinking that you can make a professional video suitable for selling at a premium price. For advice on how to choose a video production company, do a web search for "how to choose a video production company" or search by this author's name. Once you've chosen a production company that fits your budget, be sure to create scenes that actually demonstrate your points and how they can duplicate it. No one really wants to buy a video of a talking head, so keep it interesting. For advice on creating effective video content, be sure to do a web search on this topic for this same author. Decide if you are suitable for being the on camera talent and speaker. Again you must portray yourself as an expert, or at least, an expert author of the content. If you're not good at communicating on camera or unable to speak naturally and fluently, you may need to hire an actor to work off a teleprompter. The production company will help you make that decision.

4. Market the video. Once the video is shot and duplicated and ready to be sold, determine the venues of distribution to promote your video to your target audience. Having your own search engine-friendly website is a must, with accurate keywords that your audience will be searching for. Amazon. com and other video dealers will gladly stock or drop ship your video for a cut of your selling price, and is well worth it. Trade shows, college campuses, swap meets, magazine classifieds, local newspaper classifieds….anywhere your audience's eyes would be looking is where you need to be promoting your video. With perseverance and determination, you can make a one time video investment make you a lot of extra money and maybe even quit the job that you were training people how to do!

Essential direct marketing tips for your business

Direct marketing is not as difficult as it seems. Test, track and count your profits, that’s how I do it. Let’s break down some of the details in some of my most powerful direct marketing tips.

Make sure you know your numbers… Figure how much income and units you need to sell in order to break even. Money matters first, the percentage rate follows. Our goal is to make money, not watch out for percentage rates. The standard is 1%. Say if we get a .5% but still make money, are we going to quit? I don’t think so.

Next, you’re going to want to key code just about everything you can. This way you can track what works, what doesn’t and in the long run will help you produce a better converting direct mail campaign. You’re also going to want to test everything. The copy, the design of the package, the offer itself, the pricing and the time you mail out. This is where they key codes will help since they will be tracking everything for you.

Be an informed list buyer. Lists are typically used for one time, as they belong to the list owner. However, once they reply to your offer, they’re yours. You’re going to have to be flexible. The list owners also require a sample of your offer, even just a rough sample to give them a heads up of what you’re going to be mailing to their list. Other things to keep in mind when dealing with lists, is the time. Sometimes lists get delivered in 24 hours, sometimes a week or two. Most list companies have a minimum of 5000 names. And almost always a prepayment is required. So keep all those things in mind when dealing with list brokers and list owners.

Start building your own mailing list. Using your customers, leads from trade shows, inquires, etc. You need to focus on the wants of your audience. A good list professional will also be specific. Be knowledgeable of each list type. There are email lists, direct mail lists, telemarketing lists, etc. Consider other sources as well. There are plenty of places you can rent a list of names from. Associations, subscribers, compiled, etc.

You should determine the list price. Typically in direct mail, the lists have a base price per thousand, or “M”.

How are these lists supplied? CD, email, label stock? This can all have an effect on the timing of your campaign.

To get your envelope opened, I suggest you use a live stamp. This is one of the most important direct marketing tips I can share with you now… it’s worth the extra expense. That way your envelope will not get mistaken for junk mail. You’re also going to want to consider using a short teaser copy to entice the recipient to open your letter.

Use color in your letter effectively by using a blue signature or use different colors sparingly throughout to help emphasize your important points.

Give your recipients all the information they need in the direct mail piece. Tell them about the features, functions and benefits of your offer, the more the better!

If you’re sending out an email, be short and to the point. Use the subject as the teaser and link to your homepage in your email.

Next up, you’re going to want to use a professional. Use a list broker or company that has years of experience. You don’t want to start off using another company just looking to rip you off, therefore leaving you with no more money to pursue your project.

Hopefully you’ll consider these direct marketing tips when working on your own direct response campaign. They work for me and I’m confident they will work for you as well.
